Lot 84 – a surtout de table full of grace, estimate 1,700€ to 2,200€
Intended to adorn the centerpiece of an important people, our silver plated centerpiece can be compared to lavish productionsat the time of Napoleon III. The figure of the Three Graces of our surtout can be found on several large orders executed byChristofle for the Wagons-Lits Company, but also on the famous surtout executed in silver for the Duke of Luynes byFroment-Meurice goldsmith today in the Louvre Museum.
Lot 156 – a lyric abstraction from the gallery Argos, estimate 6,000€ to 8,000€
Camille Bryen is one of the main representatives of lyrical abstraction in France. He belongs to that generation of artists afterthe Second World War who chooses to express the abstract spontaneity in their inner emotions and refuse the coldness of the geometry and cubism, sadness of reality, delusions surreal to express in new gesture anger. Good sized, our 1964 compositioncomes from the Argos gallery of Nantes, gallery, who played in the 1960s a major role in the dissemination of contemporary art in countryside.
Lot 198 – a modern lamp by Printz, estimate 40,000 € to 50,000€
The model of our lamp was made in 1937 for the major Exposition des arts et techniques appliqués à la Vie moderne. Designed by Eugene Printz, it sums up "the event" whose objective was to demonstrate that the Art and Technique, the beautiful and the useful, was not only good combination but would very quickly become inseparable. Printz had institutional customers such as the Mobilier National and the City of Paris but also wealthy individuals like the princess of La Tour d'Auvergne and Jeanne Lanvin.
Lot 201 - Three Design icons, estimate 1,500 € to 2,500€
The chauffeuse Barcelona is one of the most iconic Design creations from the twentieth century. Created by Mies van der Rohe and Lilly Reich to furnish the German pavilion at the International Exhibition of 1929 in Barcelona, it has a similarstructure and a chromed steel base X of extraordinary modernity for the time. Leather-trimmed models in our three examples are today still available for sale and are sold by Knoll from € 6,000 each ...
