A stone carved Madonna and child in our next auction


Column Sculptures, Appraisal and valuation

Guillaume Le Floc'h auctioneer in collaboration with our experts specialized in free valuation and free appraisal will sell at auction, in Saint-Cloud on the 2nd October, a Madonna with child, carved in stone form the late 15th century.

 

Bourgogne, fin du XVe siècle.
Vierge à l’Enfant.
Pierre calcaire sculptée polychrome bleu et rouge dont le dos est ébauché. La Vierge, portant une couronne, tient l’Enfant dans ses bras devant la poitrine. Celui-ci est entièrement nu et adopte une position mouvementée avec la tête tournée, sa jambe gauche levée, saisissant d’une main la robe de sa Mère. Marie est vêtue d’un voile, d’une robe et d’un ample manteau dont un pan revient sur le devant. Elle repose sur une terrasse (reprise à la polychromie, tête de l’Enfant recollée, restauration à la main droite de la Vierge, usures).
